All right we all know in the past few months Odd Future has blown up like hemorrhoids. Every last label, producer, writer, “blogger”, chimney sweeper, taxidermist and ice cream man has been up on Odd Futures nuts. Hell even the hype machine is out of order from being over worked.
People have been telling me left and right that odd future is the savor of hip-hop. Like Sylvester Stallone in Demolition Man about to knock out Wesley Snipes for something besides not paying his taxes. Odd Future has been making a hell of a buzz in music community. But is all the hype really worth it? Is Mellow Hype, Tyler the Creator, Hodgey Beats really all that good?
In my opinion, it’s a lot better then a lot of shit out there right now and when you can rap about triceratops and make a decent flow out of it then there’s something there. Tyler the Creator’s solo album “Goblin” dropped today. The buzz on this record is fever pitch but I want to know is how are the shows like? Are these mother fuckers really mosh pitting at ODFWGKTA shows? Well if you want to find out then head down to the Amoeba Records today and find out.
Today only (5/10/11) Tyler will be doing a free all ages show at the Troubadour in Los Angeles. There’s only one catch you have to by the album. But for 10 buxs and a ticket that’s not to bad is it? But the word free isn’t really free right. Shitty false advertisement….. Anyways doors open at 7pm.
