LOW PLACES Low Places 7″ Local Band Review

1 05 2011

LOW PLACES is straight unholy misanthropic hardcore. Guys come out of L.A. with raging sludgy-hardcore. They are an unrelenting onslaught of raw, hardcore noise.

They start off this raging, self-titled 7″ with a slow, raging intro, ‘The Storm,” which pretty much sums up this whole EP — it’s exactly that, a storm of just absolute mankind-hating distorted rampage. The drums are crisp and on point; battered with pure undying hatred much akin to the drumming style of Crossed Out. The guitars are a wall of sound; heavy, distorted sound. These guys ramp up their distortion and give good hardcore riffs thrown in with sludgy counterpart with no quiet in-betweens — throughout their feedback is ever-present in every break.  The vocals, an obviously infuriated scream just puts it all together as nice of a package as Gwenyth Paltrow’s head in Se7en.

Their first 7″ released by Recession Records could be bought here. These guys are blasting off like a rocket (and for good reasons, they’re awesome!), they’re playing the PRE-Gnarmageddon Fest Show (We know you’re on Facebook, don’t front!), and they’re playing with Extortion on May 30, 2011 at The Blvd in Boyel Heights. On top of that, they’re playing SOUND AND FURY in Santa Barabara!(Check it out!).  To top all those rad-as-shit-if-you-don’t-go-commit-suicide shows, these guys just got signed to A389 Records (Weekend Nachos, Gehenna, Integrity, Xibalba and more) to release some other recordings they just finished doing. They have two tracks off their upcoming release, which can be heard HERE. I can’t wait to get my hands on that release, but for now, this 7″ will have to suffice for those days I feel like romping somebody’s head in. Grab this record, put it on your turntable, crank it up to 11, and solo-circle pit in your room!!!
