X-Ray Spex’s Poly Styrene Passes Away at 53

28 04 2011

Poly Styrene, the beloved front women of the iconoclastic X-Ray Spex has passed away on Monday. The punk queen was diagnosed with an advanced case of the Breast Cancer and had undergone treatment at the time of her death.

Poly was born Marian Joan Elliott in 1957, she would later go on to be forever immortalized in music history with X-Ray Spex’s Germ Free Adolescents. Germ Free Adolescents is to date one of the greatest albums ever made period. Poly’s shear vocal range is staggering and if you have never speeded down the highway blaring “Plastic Bag” you have been deprived! Rest in peace Poly you shall be missed.
